Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day Saturday With Parade, Pot of Gold, and Irish Feast
Holden is getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the “Wearin’ of the Green” this Saturday, March 19!
Everyone is invited to participate and show your Irish Spirit in your hometown, along with your friends and neighbors!
The Holden Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade, which will be held on Saturday, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
As well as the fun of the annual Irish parade, the Chamber is once again sponsoring the Pot of Gold shop local promotion.
Chairman Darcy Roach of Homes by Darcy instructs shoppers to “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” to Irish fun and enjoy local shopping while supporting your hometown merchants.
The Pot of Gold fun will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Holden.

“When Irish Eyes Are Smiling!”… The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held this Saturday, March 19, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The parade will be led by an authentic bagpiper! Each participating merchant will have a shamrock on the door and will also offer a give-away prize drawing.
Those businesses interested in taking part in the promotion should contact Darcy to be included on the map.
Each Holden business will have their own special Irish promotions that day and maps of participating businesses will be available at Homes by Darcy on E. 2nd St. Come downtown early Saturday and see all the bargains that are available, then stay for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which promises to entertain and delight the crowds of onlookers!
Parade line-up will be at 3 p.m. at Tilden’s Quick Lube, at the east end of 2nd St. The parade will get underway at 3:30 p.m., traveling west down 2nd St., led by an authentic bagpipe player.
All parade entries should sign up with Chairman Jennifer Smithson, by calling 816-850-5516.
Jennifer says the following will be accepted – walking entries, pets, animals, decorated bikes, wagons, side-by-sides, trucks and those vehicles pulling floats.
The deadline for parade entries is Friday, (tomorrow) March 18.

The Chamber will award prizes of first, second and third places after the judges have selected their favorite entries.

Parade participants are asked to hand out their candy and give-aways instead of throwing them from floats, etc., to ensure the safety of all collecting candy, especially our children.

After the festivities downtown, head up to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for their 16th Annual Irish Feast, complete with traditional Irish fare on the menu, as well as other fun events!
St. Pat’s will have its Silent Auction, Live Auction, Trivia Game all evening, and St. Patrick’s popular raffle, with some exciting prizes, including a first prize of $300 cash!

The Irish Feast runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and St. Patrick’s is located at 703 S. Olive St. (south 131 Hwy).
Make it a day of Irish celebrations – beginning with the Pot of Gold, the excitement of the Parade, and end your day enjoying some traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage, and of course, a little Irish ale (green beer)!
