Holden is getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the “Wearin’ of the Green” this Saturday, March 19!
Everyone is invited to participate and show your Irish Spirit in your hometown, along with your friends and neighbors!
The Holden Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade, which will be held on Saturday, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
As well as the fun of the annual Irish parade, the Chamber is once again sponsoring the Pot of Gold shop local promotion.
Chairman Darcy Roach of Homes by Darcy instructs shoppers to “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” to Irish fun and enjoy local shopping while supporting your hometown merchants.
The Pot of Gold fun will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Holden.
Each participating merchant will have a shamrock on the door and will also offer a give-away prize drawing.
Those businesses interested in taking part in the promotion should contact Darcy to be included on the map.
Each Holden business will have their own special Irish promotions that day and maps of participating businesses will be available at Homes by Darcy on E. 2nd St. Come downtown early Saturday and see all the bargains that are available, then stay for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which promises to entertain and delight the crowds of onlookers!
Parade line-up will be at 3 p.m. at Tilden’s Quick Lube, at the east end of 2nd St. The parade will get underway at 3:30 p.m., traveling west down 2nd St., led by an authentic bagpipe player.
All parade entries should sign up with Chairman Jennifer Smithson, by calling 816-850-5516.
Jennifer says the following will be accepted – walking entries, pets, animals, decorated bikes, wagons, side-by-sides, trucks and those vehicles pulling floats.
The deadline for parade entries is Friday, (tomorrow) March 18.
Please contact Jennifer for more information, or to enter.
The Chamber will award prizes of first, second and third places after the judges have selected their favorite entries.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and show your unique creativity with your Irish entry!
Parade participants are asked to hand out their candy and give-aways instead of throwing them from floats, etc., to ensure the safety of all collecting candy, especially our children.
Don’t miss the fun of the St. Paddy’s Day Parade and Pot of Gold promotion!
Come on downtown, Follow that Yellow Brick Road and find some bargains and great deals!
After the festivities downtown, head up to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for their 16th Annual Irish Feast, complete with traditional Irish fare on the menu, as well as other fun events!
