Image Publishes Councilman’s Public Response To Nepotism Allegations
The Image contacted Councilman Ray Briscoe after learning he made a presentation at the January 11 city council meeting, regarding Mayor Liz Weeks’ email to council members that said she was investigating an act of nepotism allegedly committed by Briscoe.
Below is the communication that Briscoe presented to council, the public in attendance, and Mayor Weeks.
It is of note to mention that Briscoe was on the January agenda to address the nepotism act that was directed at him.
Mayor Weeks did not let him respond in the rightful place at the meeting for reasons unknown to the Image at this time.
Presentation defending his position, given at city council meeting January 11, authored by Councilman Ray Briscoe – Members of Council, People of Holden, I am taking this time to address the claims from a December 6 email sent from the Mayor to the members of the City Council and some of the City Staff. I speak to honor my oath and commitment to the people of Holden.
In that email, it was suggested that I had engaged in activity considered as nepotism with regard to the Council’s decision, a decision made in a public vote in open session, to engage with Mike Keith Insurance company for the City’s needs.
That vote happened on February 9, 2021 – as with all of our meetings, regular minutes were kept, and later approved by the council as being an accurate recording of what happened at that meeting.

I just don’t understand why the city council is treated with such disrespect by our mayor. There have been several times that I have been at counsel meetings and seen first hand how she treats some of the council members.
I can’t wait for the election!
