City of Holden Violates Sunshine Law
In an effort to keep the citizens of Holden informed, the Image has made repeated requests to the City of Holden for records from city council meetings, as well as executive session actions and notes from the June 22 and September 14 meetings. Another formal request was made to the City on September 28. Under the Missouri Sunshine Law, the City had 72 hours to comply and produce the requested records or they would be in violation of State law. A portion of the requested records were sent to the Image office on Monday, October 4, five business days after the official request was made. When asked where the remaining records were, The Image was told the City Attorney was reviewing them to determine what could be released for the purpose of informing the public as to the council and Mayor’s actions. As of this writing, the City is now 10 business days delinquent in producing requested records.
