JESSE WILLIAM PADGETT
Jesse William Padgett, 86, previously of Holden, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
He was born Tuesday, October 16, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the son of the late William Padgett and the late Levenia (Mallory) Padgett.
He was the husband of Joyce Padgett.
Jesse attended Braymer High School but left early to join the United States Marine Corps.
He was called to active duty and served his country as a veteran of the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.
He spent his working career as a truck driver for Safeway, retiring in 1992.
Jesse moved to his farm in Holden in 1986.
He was a proud member of the Holden VFW. He enjoyed small town life and loved the country.
He enjoyed caring for his horses on his farm, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Jesse’s pride and joy was his family. He attended all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
He was a man that could strike up a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; two sons, Douglas (Lisa) Padgett of Shawnee, KS, and Keith (Wendy) Padgett of Prairie Village, KS; two daughters, Cindy (Craig) DuMortier of Overland Park, KS, and Dixie (Rob) Rogers of Shawnee, KS; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Wakeman officiating.
He will be cremated after the funeral service per his wishes and his cremains scattered on his farm in lieu of Earth burial.
