Chamber Gathers To Discuss Upcoming Events

The Holden Area Chamber of Commerce met in regular session on September 2 to discuss Chamber business and upcoming events in town.

Members talked about the success of the Cruise Nights, which have been held all summer on the first Friday of each month.

The last Cruise Night will be held on Friday, October 1, downtown on 2nd St.

There is still vendor booth space available for the final Cruise Night.

If you’re interested in being a vendor for the October 1 event, space is available through the Lyric House.

Other upcoming events that were discussed included Witches Night Out, to be held on October 28.

Lori Fox is the coordinator for the event.

The Annual Chamber Awards Banquet will be held on November 5 at the Hallar building.

Featured entertainment will be provided by The Dinner Detective.

Other events include the Holiday Homes Tour, which will be held December 11. Darcy Roach is coordinating the tour.

Stay tuned for more details. In other business, members reported that the City of Holden is still seeking sponsors for the annual Truck & Tractor Pull, set for Saturday, September 18.

The Adopt-a-Flower-Pot promotion was discussed.

It was also mentioned that the bull riding event at the city park arena has been moved to September 25.

In reports, Chamber members heard from Tracy Brantner of Johnson County Economic Development Corporation (JCEDC).

Brantner told the Chamber that some continuing education small business webinars are still available.

She also talked about PPP funds that are available for daycares.

In the Holden R-III District, reports were positive, with students returning to in-person learning on August 23.

Things are going smoothly so far this school year.

In other news, it was reported that Chamber membership forms would be sent out soon.

The regular monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce closed, to reopen on October 7.
