MARK LEE THOMASON

Mark Lee Thomason, 59, of Holden, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.

Mark was born February 12, 1962 in Warrensburg, the son of Herby and Margaret Ellen (Daldrup) Thomason.

He was raised on his family farm with his siblings.

Mark furthered that experience becoming a successful row-crop farmer with his brother Sam, progressing the Thomason Farm past its century mark.

He graduated from Holden High School, Class of ‘80.

Mark was united in marriage to Delight Kitchen on July 25, 1997 in Holden.

Lovingly called “Smiley,” he was well-known for helping his neighbors and friends.

He loved taking his family to the lake and teaching his children many skills.

Mark strived to be a “Jack of all trades, master of none” and exemplified that very notion.

His passions involved riding Harleys with friends, water skiing, hunting and fishing.

Mark represented what it meant to always take care of others.

Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Delight, of the home; daughter, Riley Kate Thomason (Ethan Burton); two sons, Eric Matthew Thomason (Bailey) of Holden, MO and Tyler Paul Bruns (Beccah) of Holden, MO; two granddaughters, Luna Rose Bruns and Violet Ryn Bruns; father, Herby, of Holden, MO; two sisters, Cynthia Freeman of Kingsville, MO and Shelley Phenix (Jerry) of Holden, MO; brother, Sam Thomason (Jean) of Holden, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was recently preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ellen.

A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
