Memorial Day Flag Ceremony Set For May 31
A Memorial Day flag celebration will be held at the Holden Cemetery this Monday, May 31 at 10 a.m.
A memorial service will take place, along with a 21-gun salute. There will be a POW/MIA ceremony to remember our lost loved ones who didn’t come home, and Taps will be played.
A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Veterans Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Local Boy Scouts will be helping with the ceremony at the cemetery, leading the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
A Veterans Service Officer will be on hand to offer help to local vets and answer questions about benefits.
The ceremony is sponsored by Holden VFW Post 5844 and American Legion Post 90.
Members of the VFW and the American Legion will be putting American flags out on the graves of all the servicemen and women on Friday and Saturday, prior to the program on Monday.
Following the ceremony at the cemetery, there will be a reception at the VFW Post in downtown Holden.
The ceremony will take place unless there is inclement weather.
Mark your calendar and join your neighbors at the Holden Cemetery to honor our loved ones who have passed on.
