AGNES ANN (RABER) ENGELBARDT

Agnes Ann (Raber) Engelbardt, age 88, passed away at her home in Kailua, Oahu, HI on February 3, 2021. She was the daughter of Russell and Mattie Mae Raber.

Agnes grew up on a farm five miles southwest of Holden with two brothers and two sisters.

She graduated from Holden High School in 1950 and was also a graduate of CMSC, Warrensburg.

After teaching first and second grades in Holden for two years, she accepted a teaching position in Tuscon, AZ in 1956. While in Tuscon, she met Robert (Bob) Engelbardt and they were united in marriage in June of 1958.

They were the parents of four daughters. In 1962, they moved to Kailua since Bob was offered an engineering job in Honolulu.

Agnes loved living in Hawaii for 58 years and was a wonderful tour guide when family and friends came to visit.

She was very creative, and had a great memory. Agnes will be remembered for how she touched many with her grace and kindness.

She was a member of Kailua United Methodist Church for 58 years. Surviving her passing are family members, including her husband Bob, of the home; four daughters, Susie Hessburg (John), Apple Valley, MN; Nancy Werlinger (Kevin), Seattle, WA; Karen Engelbardt and Donna Engelbardt, both of Tuscon, AZ; four grandchildren, Jack Hessburg, Boulder, CO; Robert (Bo) Hessburg, Minneapolis, MN; Madison and Monique Werlinger, Seattle, WA; a brother, Sam Raber (Doris), Holden; a sister, Alice Raber Ramey (Bob), Odessa, MO; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her younger brother, Joe Edward Raber, who lost his life in Vietnam; and her sister, Rita Coleman.

Interment of ashes will be at Medford Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial services are pending due to the pandemic.
