MERRILL EUGENE SECHREST

Merrill Eugene Sechrest, 89, of Holden, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Merrill was born on September 25, 1931 in Holden, Missouri, the son of Merrill Sechrest and Bessie Bell (Hurr) Sechrest.

Merrill married Pauline Lambert, the love of his life, on June 7, 1952 in Harrison, Arkansas.

Merrill was employed by the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City where he worked in the transportation department for 48 years, retiring in 1990.

He lived in the Holden area all of his life and was a devout member of the Holden Baptist Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Sechrest, of the home; one son, Richard Sechrest of Holden, MO; two daughters, Connie Davis and husband, Samuel of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Carol Phillips and husband, Donald of Holden, MO; four sisters, Darlene Wise and husband, Ronald of Arkansas, Donna Justice and husband, Jerry of Gladstone, MO, Dorothy Wakeman of Holden, MO, and Linda Kirchoff and husband, David of Holden, MO; five grandchildren, Carolyn Gann, Nancy Bruce and husband Tim, Ricky Sechrest, Stefanie Sechrest and Scott Sechrest; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Parker, Wyatt, Ellie, Jackson, and Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Bessie Sechrest; two brothers, John Sechrest and Kenny Sechrest; two sisters, Evelyn Evans and Mary Bracher.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Holden Baptist Temple (605 N. Lexington St., Holden, MO), with Pastor Rod Albert officiating.

Visitation was at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Interment followed the service at Gilbert Cemetery, located at SW 600th Road, Holden, MO.
