SHEILA ARLENE HARRIS
Sheila Arlene Harris, 59, of Independence, Missouri, was born on October 25, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa to Carl Edward Harris, Sr. and Bertha Marie (Hardin) Harris.
Sheila was the last of 10 children. Sheila was educated in the Holden and Blue Springs, Missouri Public School System and graduated from Blue Springs High School, Class of 1981.
After high school, she worked for many years in the housekeeping and cooking industry at Unity Village and Western Missouri Medical Center, in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Sheila was of the Pentecostal faith and last attended Evangelistic Center COGIC in Kansas City, Kansas.
Sheila loved cleaning, cooking (haha), going to the boat (casino), and decorating (haha haha).
Sheila also loved baseball, Bingo, playing Dominos, spades, and she really enjoyed taking care of people.
Sheila was affectionately known by her family as “Shanaynay.”
Sheila was the life of every family gathering and she always kept everyone laughing.
Sheila departed this life on her birthday, October 25, 2020, and was preceded in death by her parents, Carl E. Harris, Sr. and Bertha M. Harris; two brothers, Carl E. Harris, Jr. and Russell Cartwright Harris; and one sister, Francis Ailene West. Sheila is survived by her two sons, Deonte Tyrone Harris (fiancé Cheryl) of Independence, Missouri, and Demarcus Dewayne Harris of Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Richard E. Harris of Kansas City, Missouri, Alfred L. Harris of Grandview, Missouri; four sisters, Wanda L. Smith (John) of Chesterfield, Virginia, Bobby K. Frazier (Daniel) of Holden, Missouri, Joyce M. Harris of Kansas City, Missouri, Lisa R. Fassett (Stan) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mikahala Jaggers, Shaye Langley, and Nivlag Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Sheila at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the Holden First Presbyterian Church, 501 S. Main, Holden, Missouri.
The family asks that those attending please wear face masks and practice social distancing.
