NORMA LEE (MALTSBURGER) JOHNSON

Norma Lee (Maltsburger) Johnson, 82, of Holden, Missouri, formerly of Charleston, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

She was born January 18, 1938 in Macedonia, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Maltsburger and Elenor Lewis.

Norma was a (RN) Registered Nurse, and she began her education in nursing at the Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She served her residency and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) in Knoxville, Iowa.

Norma was employed as a surgical nurse at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri, where she retired in 2001.

She had been a resident of Holden, MO since 1982. Norma was a member of the Holden Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, as well as a member of the Holden Shakespeare Book Club. She served on the Board of the Johnson County Adult Literacy Program and was a former board member of the Trails Regional Library in Holden.

Norma volunteered at the Food Pantry in Warrensburg, MO. She played on three different Bridge clubs in Warrensburg and Holden. Norma was a member of the Holden United Methodist Church.

Norma is survived by two sons, Victor Johnson and wife Rene of Blue Springs, MO, and Chris Johnson and wife RaShel of Holden, MO; two sisters, Betty Burton of Rushville, Nebraska and Janet Erickson and husband Jack of Cumberland, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elenor Maltsburger; her husband, James L. Johnson, who passed away on November 13, 1997; one brother, Jerry Maltsburger; and one sister, Marlene Wiley.

Visitation for family and friends was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery (SW 228 MO-13, Warrensburg, MO).

Graveside funeral services were held at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery (SW 228 MO-13, Warrensburg, MO) at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020, with Pastor Rob Allen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holden R-III School Foundation (1612 South Main, Holden, MO 64040).
