MYRTLE IRENE (HENSLEY) CRUEY JONES

 

Myrtle Irene (Hensley) Cruey Jones, 90, of the Pittsville Community, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Holden Manor Care Center.

Myrtle was born August 15, 1930 at Montserrat, Missouri, daughter of Harry Homer Hensley and Flossie Irene (Bradshaw) Hensley.

She was united in marriage to Gary Wayne Jones on November 26, 1954 in Sedalia.

The couple resided in Warrensburg, Leeton and the Elm Community prior to moving to Lake of the Ozarks in 1979.

Later, they moved from Lake of the Ozarks to Belton to be near their daughter.

They eventually returned to the Pittsville area. Myrtle sewed for several locations in Kansas, as well as Unitog in Warrensburg, and Beaumont/Comfort in Holden where she made tractor covers.

She was the only person who operated a double needle; therefore, she handled the covers two to four times before going to the next station.

She later sewed for Unifemme Mfg. in Warrensburg, a factory in Pleasant Hill, and at Holden Mfg.

She was known for her quality of work.

Myrtle was a member of 7-13 Firebirds Fire Aux., where she served as president; American Legion Aux. in Blue Springs at one time, and Holden CB Club in the ‘70’s.

She was a Lady Shriner, member of O.E.S., Warrensburg Chapter #3; the VFW Aux. in Holden, as well as Climax Springs, having served as president of both.

She also served as Sixth District President from 1971 to 1972.

Myrtle enjoyed bird watching, crocheting and reading mystery novels.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Jones of Holden, MO; brother-in-law, Fred Mistler of Warrensburg, MO; sister-in-law, Carolyn McLaughlin of Desoto, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gary Jones; former husband, Roy Cruey; four siblings, Edward Hensley, Katherine Hill, Joyce Mistler and Bobby Hensley.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Rev. Rob Allen of Holden United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Pallbearers will be Michael Hensley, Rick Hill, Randy Hill, Darryl Borer, Dennis Borer and Jesse Golliher. Honorary pallbearers will be will be Dale Bright, Dale Callahan, Tom Rymer, Jack Wharton, Sam Raber and Randy Butt. Visitation – There will be an Order of Eastern Star Service 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, immediately followed by visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Holden VFW Aux. #5844, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
