MARVIN “MARTY” EUGENE BARKER, JR.

Marvin “Marty” Eugene Barker, Jr., 48, of Holden, Missouri, formerly of Independence, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

He was born July 3, 1972 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Marvin E. Barker, Sr. and Carolyn Sue Morris.

Marvin attended high school in Nevada, Missouri. He married his wife Linda (Lackey) Barker in Gladstone, Missouri on April 22, 2017.

He moved to Holden, MO in 2020. Marvin was a truck driver “all his life.”

He drove an end dump truck and was employed with Tom Peace Trucking Company in Lee’s Summit, MO and Updike Paving Corporation in Kansas City, Kansas.

Marvin was a former member of the Brotherhood for Children in Kansas City, MO.

He was of the Baptist faith. Marvin is survived by his wife, Linda Barker of the home; his mother, Carolyn S. Barker of Holden, MO; two sons, Cody Eugene Barker and wife Morgan of Nevada, MO, and Dalton James Barker of Nevada, MO; one step-daughter, Shawna Fielder and husband Robert of Winfield, MO; two sisters, Marsha Stansbury of Holden, MO and Jannine Barker of Holden, MO; eight grandchildren, Kinley, Cole, Charlotte, Liam, Sadie, David, Alana and Robert Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin E. Barker, Sr.; and two sisters, Penny Barker and Melissa Barker.

Visitation for family and friends was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home (407 S. Pine, Holden, MO).

Graveside services were held at 2:15 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the Kingsville Cemetery (SW State Highway W), Kingsville, MO, with Pastor Michael Wakeman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family of Marvin Barker.
