JOHN EDWARD McCLOUD

 

John Edward McCloud, 80, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on August 3, 1939 in Johnson County Missouri, the son of Earl Richard and Alva Georgia (Simpson) McCloud. John graduated from Kingsville High School, the Class of 1957. He was a member of the United States Army, honorably serving his country during the Vietnam War from September of 1962 to October of 1968. John was a police officer for the Lee’s Summit Police Department for 10 years and worked for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department for 14 years. He was a member of the Lee’s Summit VFW and the Holden American Legion Post #90. John was of the Baptist faith. In Warrensburg, Missouri on January 14, 2016, John was united in marriage to his wife, Joyce (Thurman) McCloud. John is survived by his wife, Joyce McCloud of Oak Grove, MO; two sons, Sam JoEd McCloud and girlfriend Pamela Merriott of Kingsville, MO, and Edward John McCloud and wife Vickie of Haines City, FL; one brother, Earl Eugene McCloud and wife Lorriane of Kingsville, MO; one sister-in-law, Patty McCloud of Kingsville, MO; and one grandchild, Mason McCloud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alva McCloud; and one brother, William (Bill) George McCloud. Memorial contributions in honor of John Edward McCloud, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org), or in care of Campbell-Cast Funeral Home, 407 S. Pine Holden, MO 64040. Cremation entrusted to Campbell-Cast Funeral Home, Holden, MO. There are no services scheduled at this time.
