MICKEY JEAN HEDRICK
Mickey Jean Hedrick, age 77, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at her home in Harrisonville, MO, surrounded by her family. Mickey was born on December 11, 1942 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to John and Elizabeth Finn. John worked as a sheet metal contractor with his wife, and together they traveled throughout the southern part of the United States for work. During that time, Mickey lived with her grandparents, Clarence and Priscilla Mae Finn in Texarkana and Tyler, Texas. In Mickey’s junior year of high school the family moved to Kansas City, MO when her father began employment at Bendix. She graduated from Westport High School in 1960. Bob and Mickey were married on October 1, 1970, and later moved to the country on a small farm outside Garden City, MO in 1972. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden, as well as raising chickens and goats, which quickly became pets. While Mickey raised her six children, she worked as the ladies wear department manager at Walmart for 22 years. Mickey was an active member of Cornerstone Community Church, as well as countless other community organizations over the years. She enjoyed fishing at her Pomme De Terre Lake cabin, cooking, rescuing dogs, caring for others and traveling. She would often spend the winter in Florida – where she gained many new friends and volunteered her time cooking for the needy. Mickey truly loved her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her weekly card-playing time with her friends, “The Grannies” and “The Happy Hens.” She will be remembered for her kind, compassionate, and generous spirit. Mickey is survived by her brother, John (Betty) of Peculiar, MO; sons, Mark (Judy) of Lee’s Summit, MO, David (Gwen) of Garden City, MO, Mike (Lisa) of Kingsville, MO, and Darren (Jana) of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughters, Dana White of Grain Valley, MO and Valerie (Cliff) Comer of Holden, MO; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, cousins, Tim (Rhonda) Finn of Arkansas, and Daniel (Pat) Finn of St. Petersburg, FL; and furry friends, Millie, Chewy, Julie, Sweet Pea, Mulkey, and Buster.
