Sylvia Wamsley

Sylvia Wamsley, 82 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at her daughter, Julie’s residence in Lee’s Summit.

Sylvia was born on January 8, 1944, in Lovell, Wyoming, to Donald G. and Lavon (Marchant) Olsen.

After graduating from high school, she married Raymond L. Wamsley on September 26, 1964, in Claremont, California. The couple lived in several states, including California, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, Chiefs football, college football and basketball, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sylvia was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding various callings over the years. She also worked as a temple worker in both the Oklahoma and Kansas City temple for numerous years.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints in Warrensburg with Bishop Tim Pinkston officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery, north of Chilhowee.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Gillming, Brett Gillming, Daniel Mochon, Logan Fontaine, Nathan Gillming, David Mochon, Garrett Fontaine, Nolan Fontaine and Trever Wamsley.
Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Gillming, Gavin Fontaine, Truman Wamsley, Tucker Wamsley, Gavin Wilkins, Brian Martin, Dylan Gillming, Todd Reid, Phill Dieckmann and Robert Bichoff.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Logan and Carly Fontaine Adoption Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
