Janet Gaye Blackmon

Janet Gaye Blackmon, 69 of Holden, Missouri passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at her home in Holden, surrounded by her family. Born Friday, December 3, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Lionel Martinette and Doris Stewart Martinette.

Janet was a 1972 graduate of Archie High School in Archie, MO. Janet had a previous son, Jason Kruid from a previous marriage, who preceded her in death. In 1986, she met the love of her life, Daniel Blackmon, and in July 1989 they were united in marriage in Harrisonville, MO. Together they had one son, Derek.

Janet worked as a retail manager for Kmart for over 15 years. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and reading. She loved planting flowers and trees and working in her garden. She loved her husband’s award-winning woodworking skills, and she took pride in helping him stain and finish his work.
Janet and the family lived in Holden for over 30 years. She loved the beach and her grand puppies. She was a devoted wife and mother who had a kind and loving personality. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don Martinette, her husband Daniel Blackmon, and her son, Jason Kruid. Surviving her passing are her brother, Rod Martinette; her sisters Celeste Martinette, Jill Matejka, and Carrie Martinette; her son, Derek Blackmon, and his wife Kelly Riddell.

A graveside service was held at the Holden Cemetery, Thursday, June 27.
