Well over a century-and-a-half ago, the surrounding countryside was wild and untamed, filled with a variety of native wildlife, as well as woodlands and endless prairies teeming with life.
The early pioneers had begun settling in this area many years before. These hard-scrabble settlers adjusted well to the many challenges this area presented. They also proudly brought their Christian faith to their new homes on the wild Missouri prairie. They would gather together to practice their beliefs and hold services.
In 2024, an area church that can trace its roots back to these early people is celebrating a building that has served as a backdrop for many of the pioneers early Christian services and celebrations.
Elm Spring Baptist Church will hold a Commemoration Ceremony at the old church, to celebrate the building’s rich history in the community and the many years it has served the neighbors in this area and beyond.
The ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 27, at 2 p.m. and the public is cordially invited and encouraged to come and share memories of the old Elm Spring Baptist Church building. The old church has touched the lives and hearts of many people in this area and surrounding communities.
The old church will be demolished in November, but will never be forgotten. Everyone is invited to attend the commemoration on October 27 and participate in the final farewell service.

I would like to get some bricks if I could have the old building maybe I can build a house with it. But II would like to get some bricks if I could of the old building maybe I can build a house with it. But I would at least like to have five of them.
This church holds a life time of memories for me and our familes.
