Celebrating The Life Of Dale Strate

Seven years ago Holden said a painful goodbye to a hometown son, longtime businessman and true patriot.

Dale Strate was raised in Holden and served the community in many ways, always seeking to make his hometown a better place to live and work for his neighbors.

Dale and his wife Linda (his Arkansas Sweetheart), owned and operated Strate’s Drive Inn, buying it from Dale’s parents in 1972.
Dale and Linda gave many high school students their first job, and instilled in them the value of hard work and the pride that comes from a job well done.

Linda is continuing the rich tradition of the drive inn in Holden and this year marks Strate’s 52nd year of serving the community.

Dale was called home January 27, 2017 and his funeral was February 4. Former Mayor Doyle Weeks proclaimed that February 4 would be forever celebrated as “Dale Strate Day.”
