Fire Department Responds To Structure Fire

The Holden Fire Department was dispatched to Sonic Drive-In, located at 101 South Lexington Street, following an eyewitness report of smoke coming from the roof of the business.
Upon arrival, the crew of Engine 211 observed heavy smoke coming from the roof. After conducting a 360-degree assessment, firefighters determined that all exterior doors were secured and forcible entry was necessary.

Firefighters entered through the rear, or C side, of the building and encountered flames in the kitchen and grill area. Crews established ventilation and began an interior attack using a 1 3/4-inch handline. Firefighters pulled sections of the ceiling and extinguished flames near the roofline around the hood vent.

A second 1 3/4-inch handline was established on the front, or A side, of the building and staffed by Fire District personnel. After flames were observed coming through the roof, incident command requested mutual aid from the Warrensburg Fire Department, including a ladder truck.
