Holden Softball Team Remains Undefeated In Conference Play

The Holden softball team recorded MRVC-East wins over Richmond, Lexington, and Higginsville to move to 8-0 in conference play while also recording a non-conference victory at home over Summit Christian Academy last week.
Lady Eagles Sack Spartans
Playing on the road, the Holden softball team needed just four innings to defeat Richmond in run-rule fashion on Monday, Sept. 29, as the Lady Eagles demolished the Lady Spartans in a 19-2 final score.
Holden plated one run in the first inning, scored seven in the second, added eight runs in the third, and hit its 19-run total with three runs scored in the fourth.
The Lady Spartans found the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning by pushing two run across the plate.
For Holden, Bella Haggard had a team-high 4 hits and 3 RBIs.
Addy Campbell totaled 3 hits that included a double and a home run. Campbell finished with 3 RBIs. Lily Kephart also totaled 3 hits and 3 RBIs.
Jillyan McHenry notched 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Addi Wooster and Macey Greene each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Bobbie Diibon and Ady Yoder each had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Haley Brooks had 2 hits, Alyssa Agcopra had 1 hit, and Drew Turner had 1 RBI.
Taylor Guinn started on the mound for Holden. Through four innings, Guinn allowed 2 earned runs and 5 hits while recording 5 strikeouts.
Liv Wooster Records Shutout Win Versus SCA
The Holden softball team defeated non-conference opponent Summit Christian Academy by the final score of 3-0 at Holden High School Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Holden senior pitcher Liv Wooster recorded 12 strikeouts in the shutout win.
Following three scoreless innings for both teams and an empty top of the fourth for SCA, senior shortstop Addy Campbell put Holden on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth frame with a leadoff solo home run over the fence in left-center field.
Senior catcher Haley Brooks followed Campbell with a single. Brooks scored Holden’s second run of the game when she stole second base and an error by SCA on the steal allowed Brooks to reach home plate.
Holden’s third run of the game was scored by senior center fielder Macey Greene who tripled to lead off Holden’s half of the sixth inning. Greene scored on an error committed by SCA on the hit.
In the complete game shutout, Wooster allowed 5 hits and no walks while totaling 12 strikeouts.
At the plate for Holden, Campbell finished with 1 RBI on the solo home run. Brooks totaled 2 hits. Greene and senior third baseman Bobbie Diibon each had 1 hit.
Lady Eagles Total Eighteen Hits Versus Lexington
In an MRVC-East road game played at Lexington High School on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Holden softball team defeated the Minutewomen by the final score of 13-2.
Lady Eagle batters totaled 18 hits in the conference win as sophomore pitcher Taylor Guinn recorded the win on the mound for Holden.
Bobbie Diibon led the Lady Eagles with 4 hits and 3 RBIs. Addy Campbell and Haley Waight each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Lily Kephart had 3 hits and 1 RBI. Haley Brooks and Ady Yoder each provided 2 hits and 1 RBI. Macey Greene and Bella Haggard each had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Alyssa Agcopra chipped in 1 hit.
In the win on the mound, Guinn allowed 2 earned runs, 5 hits, and 1 walk while recording 5 strikeouts.
Lady Eagles Blank Higginsville In No-Hitter From Liv Wooster
Behind a no-hit performance displayed by Lady Eagle senior starting pitcher Liv Wooster, the Lady Eagles softball team defeated Higginsville by the final score of 8-0 Thursday, Oct. 2 at Higginsville High School.
Wooster totaled 12 strikeouts in the conference win to match her strikeout total of 12 recorded two days prior in a shutout home win over Summit Christian Academy.
Wooster put Holden on the scoreboard versus Higginsville on a ground ball in the second inning that scored Bobbie Diibon who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
Ady Yoder followed Wooster with a ground ball that scored Addi Wooster on a fielder’s choice. Holden plated a third run of the second inning when a ground ball by Macey Greene forced a fielder’s choice that scored Bella Haggard.
As Liv Wooster held Higginsville in check with no hits, the Lady Eagles added one run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth, and two insurance runs in the sixth.
Leadoff walks drawn by Lady Huskers in each the fifth inning and the seventh inning provided the only base runners for Higginsville during Liv Wooster’s no-hit shutout performance.
At the plate, Wooster finished with 1 hit and 2 RBIs. Lily Kephart totaled 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Haley Brooks had a team-high 3 hits. Greene had 2 hits and 1 RBI. Haggard had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Addy Campbell had 1 hit. Addi Wooster and Yoder each had 1 RBI.
Season Record And Upcoming Schedule
At the end of last week, the Holden softball team held an overall record of 15-10, and stood at 8-0 in MRVC-East play.
The Holden softball team closes out both conference and regular season play this Thursday, Oct. 9 with an MRVC-East game at Carrollton High School. The varsity game versus the Lady Trojans starts at 5 p.m. with a JV contest to follow.
The Holden softball team is set to play in the Class 2, District 4 Softball Tournament at Hartville High School in Chaffee. District games are scheduled to be played Thursday, Oct. 16 through Tuesday, Oct. 21. The Class 2, District 4 Tournament bracket had not been seeded at press time.
