Dale Strate Day To Be Celebrated This Week
It’s been eight years since Holden had to say goodbye to a fixture in our community, and family and friends of the “Gentle Giant” Dale Strate can’t believe that many years have gone by.
Honoring Dale Strate… Every year, February 4 is celebrated as Dale Strate Day, in honor of a man who volunteered in the community and ran a successful business here for decades. To honor Dale’s memory and celebrate his many contributions to Holden, on Saturday 8, Strate’s Drive-Inn will offer FREE ice cream for all kids, $1 off all baskets, large drinks for $1.50, small drinks for $1, and FREE coffee for those who dine in. Dale was called home January 27, 2017 and his funeral was February 4. Former Mayor Doyle Weeks proclaimed that February 4 would be forever celebrated as “Dale Strate Day.”
