Local Resident Survives Life Threatening Incident With Help From Caregiver

 

Longtime Holden resident Kenny Renick shares a story with the community about his caregiver and a life-saving incident that occurred recently.

Most people know Kenny suffers from Cerebral Palsy and has faced the challenges of CP his entire life. He has a caregiver, Christy Powell, who helps him with chores around his house, and helps Kenny stay safe when eating his meals.

Because of his condition and the muscle weakness that comes along with it, the 86-year-old has problems with choking when he tries to swallow.
In fact, he never eats unless someone is at his house to help keep him safe. Kenny lives by himself in the house that belonged to his folks, on north 131 Highway, near Pittsville.

A few weeks ago, Kenny was enjoying his evening meal of chicken, when suddenly, he started choking and could not get his breath…
