City Officials Sworn Into Office; Ward IV Candidate Decided By Coin Flip

The April 7 elections were full of close races and none was closer than the one for the Holden City Council’s Ward IV seat.

The candidates contesting for the seat were Karen Mensch, Chuck McCulloch and Naomi Chastain.

The unofficial count showed Mensch and McCulloch tied with 36 votes each, while Chastain was close behind with 33.

The deadlock, along with the Johnson County’s SB3 question, eventually wound up in recounts, which took place last Monday, April 13.
