City Council Meeting Summary – Thursday, September 18, 2025

The Holden City Council heard various departmental updates and passed various resolutions and ordinances at its monthly meeting Thursday, Sept. 18
Holden Mayor Ray Briscoe opened the meeting by asking for approval to add one item, requested by council members, regarding City Executive Assistant roles and responsibilities to the agenda. That was approved and the remaining consent agenda items were approved without further discussion.

Mayor’s Comments
Briscoe then updated the council with recent activities, thanking all the departments, staff and council members for a successful support of the Holden Fair.
He said that he received positive feedback for the newly opened parking lot. Mayor Briscoe then reminded the city council of needed support and volunteers for the upcoming Kite Festival.

Departmental Reports
Following, department heads gave their monthly reports.

Police Department
Chief Mayhew gave his report and thanked the street department for its timely response to provide barriers in unplanned locations during the Street Fair. He informed the council that there were zero incidents at the fair. In support of the fair event, the department expended $3,532 for patrol and traffic control officers, but Chief Mayhew added they were happy to provide this public safety support the community and Holden Fair staff.

Fire Department
Fire Chief Mike Wakeman was absent, but his written report was provided in the council packet.
