BPW Board Hears Positive Reports, Elects Officers For 2025-2026

It was a good month for the Holden Board of Public Works as no repairs or significant issues were reported by the water department during its Tuesday, April 1 meeting.

Old Business
Holden Water Superintendent, Tony Lerda gave that report when entering the business portion of the meeting.
Other than some trees being down at the lagoon and a few broken fence posts caused by recent storms, all was well with both the water and sewer systems.

New Business
First up was a presentation regarding the West Walnut development.

Using a map, Lerda showed the board where a development was being proposed. It would be on the west side of 131 Highway one block along Walnut Street and one block north on the west side of Grand Street.

He went on to say all of the necessary water structure has already been installed. He continued saying that with consultation of the board, a letter needs to be written to the developer requesting sealed engineer drawings. There is a proposed lift station within the plans and some discussion followed about who is going to maintain the structure(s).

Lerda then gave his opinion, using Eagle Crest as an example, of how this development should be addressed.

He concluded by noting that he wants to consult with the city engineer. Then BPW and himself will draft a letter with comments in response.

Election Of Officers
The board then turned to the election of its officers for 2025-2026.
Current BPW Chairman Al West asked for nominations for secretary. Doug Hayworth nominated current secretary Kim Holger for the position. West then seconded Holger’s nomination and called for a vote. The motion passed with 3 Yeas and 0 Nays, and Holger accepted.
