James Homer Sears

James Homer Sears, 92 of Kingsville, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at St. Lukes East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
He was born Wednesday, May 25, 1932, in Green Castle, Missouri, to the late Emmett E. Sears and the late Dollie (Pickering) Sears.
He was a graduate of Green City High School. He married Donna (Pfeiffer) Sears on January 26, 1952. They spent 72 wonderful years together. They raised two sons Johnny and Jeff: two daughters Deborah and Jamey.
James was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955.
James earned his bachelor’s degree at NE Missouri State University (now known as Truman State University), and later earned his master’s degree at CMSU (now University of Central Missouri).
James was a longtime basketball and baseball coach for Kingsville High School and was the Kingsville School District Superintendent from 1967 until 1986.
James was the first inductee into the Kingsville Hall of Fame in 2016. When James was not coaching baseball or basketball he could be found playing golf, softball, or listening to or playing music.
James was multi-coordinated in both sports and music as he knew how to play several instruments.
Besides his love for music and sports, James loved going to his grandchildren’s activities and being their biggest fan.
James will be forever remembered as a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a caring husband.
He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Surviving is his; son, Jeff (Bernadette) Sears of Louisburg, KS; two daughters, Jamey (Mickey) Fleeman of Pleasant Hill, MO and Deborah Fleeman of Kingsville, MO; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna and one son, Johnny Sears and son-in-law Danny Fleeman.
The family received friends on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Sears Gymnasium at Kingsville High School, 101 E. Adriatic St, Kingsville, MO 64061.
A funeral service followed at the Sears Gymnasium with Pastor John McRoy officiating.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Kingsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Jason Brown, Beau Fleeman, Joey Fleeman, Vincent Sears, Larry Weir, Jordan Brown. Honorary Pallbearers included: Mickey Fleeman, Lewis Phelps, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made out to Amedisys Hospice, 6601 Winchester Ave, Kansas City, MO 64133.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Campbell-Cast Funeral Home.
