Kingsville Community Day Set For Saturday, Aug. 17
The Kingsville Recreation Club will be hosting their 19th annual Community Day at the Kingsville Ballpark on Saturday August 17, 2024. This year’s theme will be “Always Home – Forever Loyal”.
This year’s honorees are Pete Montgomery and Herb Brockhaus and the remembrance ceremony will be held at 7:30 pm. These men played huge roles in the growth and infrastructure improvements of Kingsville by actively serving on our City Council for many decades. It is our pleasure to honor them as our “Angels in the Outfield”.
On the morning of the 17th, we will be hosting a horseshoe tournament in the north lot of the ballpark and a 3K-5K run/walk at the main gate. We will also host breakfast in the north lot of the ballpark out by the horseshoe pits. We plan to serve Biscuits & Gravy, Sausage, and Pancakes starting at 8 am until sold out.
The Al and Sharon Barker Memorial Horseshoe Tournament will start at 8:00 a.m. and Team Entry Fee is $20.00. Proceeds will go toward the scholarship awarded annually to a Kingsville graduating senior. Contact Dustin Agcopra (text or call) at (816) 529-9462 for details.
The 3K-5K Run/Walk Benefits the Kingsville School Cross Country Program. Check in is at 6:45 am with a 7:15 a.m. start. Entry Donation $20 – 12 and younger $10. Contact Lee Smith (text or call) at (816) 830-7937 for details.
The Home Plate concession stand will open for business at 3:00 pm and will remain open through the fireworks show!
