H.O.P.E.’s newly installed Executive Director, Brittany Smith, gave an update to the organization’s board of directors when the body held its monthly meeting Wednesday, June 19.

Under the topic of Community Support, she provided a breakdown of the groups served by the Harvesters in June. That included:
• 154 households,
• 245 adults (18-64),
• 156 children (17 & under),
• 79 seniors (65 & up),
• 480 totalled served,
• 9,045 # of food.

Regarding Employer’s Taxes, she noted an extention was granted until Nov. 15 for IRS Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax due to personnel changes within the accounting firm used by H.O.P.E.

In Updates, Smith noted the Thrift Center had experienced a good month which store manager Christy Cooper attributed to a growing number of new shoppers.

Cooper also suggested the store be open Mondays instead of Saturdays. She explained that shoppers seem to prefer this schedule because Saturdays were the slowest days. Board members then approved the request.

Executive Director Smith then reported H.O.P.E. was still awaiting a new dumpster from J&S Trash company because metal to finish it had not yet arrived.

She then informed the board H.O.P.E. needed volunteers in the future to help move wood pallets used by Harvesters from the parking lot to the rear of the Community Activity Center.
