City Bond, R-III K.I.T.S. Proposition Fail Passage In April 2 Election

The City of Holden General Obligation Bond and the Holden R-III K.I.T.S. Proposition both failed to pass in last week’s General Election Bond held April 2.

The first question would have given the city the authority to issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $900,000 for the purpose of acquiring a fire truck and other equipment, and acquiring, renovating and improving municipal buildings for public safety and emergency preparedness purposes.

Though voters gave the bond issue a 169-130 simple majority, of the 299 votes cast, that fell short of the 4/7ths “super” majority required by state statues on this type of issue. In this particular case, the number of votes needed for passage would have been 171.
