Holden City Council Races Set For April Election

Filing deadline for the Holden City Council election in April has closed with all offices except Ward 2B holding candidates.

Since the position of mayor is a four-year term and Ray Briscoe was elected in 2022, the office is not up for election.

In Ward 1A, Morgan Pemberton will be the sole candidate. Pemberton was sworn in at the body’s December meeting, replacing the Ward’s representative who resigned earlier that year. The remaining term for the office is one year.

Julie Getz, incumbent, Ward 1B, will be opposed by Guy Barwick for a two-year term.

In Ward 2A, no one has filed for Councilmember. The previous member resigned in 2023 leaving a vacancy which was not filled. The position has a one-year term remaining.

In Ward 2B, incumbent Carol Mallory is running unopposed for another two-year term.

Ward 3B, will see a contest between Lewis (Jack) Leary and incumbent Larry Miller. The winner also will serve a two-year term.

Finally, in Ward 4B, incumbent Allen Mensch will face Rich Pearson for serving a two-year term.
