Mayor Speaks About Parks & Recreation As Council Considers Bills/Resolutions
At its Thursday, Oct. 19 meeting, the Holden City Council considered several bills/resolutions ranging from modular home placements to Parks and Recreation.
It was the latter which drew considerable attention when Mayor Ray Briscoe expressed his thoughts about Bill No. 10-03-23 Chapter 23 – The Board of Parks and Recreation.
In opening the discussion with the following statement:
“In various forums I have expressed concerns over Park Board processes, shortcuts, and actions. These concerns range from decision processes, park board deliberations to procurement. And cover topics from insurance requirement and management of third-party use of City Property as in the issues related to the ‘softballers.’
Also, of concern were the recent procurement approval attempts for basketball court and playground equipment outside the ordinance requirement of the Park Board and the City, as well as the attempted uncoordinated effort to develop trails outside the area under Park Board control.”…
