Holden R-III Students Dig Up The Past

At Last! Students Unearth Their Prize Time Capsule!
The Holden R-III School District started a new program for gifted students, now called T.A.R.G.E.T., in the fall of 1983. Daily classes included students in kindergarten through grade eight. These classes were taught by Robyn Sisk.
In May, 1984, students in one of the middle school classes buried a time capsule to commemorate the first year of this new program. Students chose to bury their time capsule in a barn on the Fran and Carl Stumpff farm. Their daughter, Carla, was in the class. The students thought their capsule and its contents would have a better chance of surviving the elements over time in the barn.
In 2002 T.A.R.G.E.T. students under the direction of Beverly Chaney, T.A.R.G.E.T. teacher at the time, unearthed the time capsule buried in 1984. Robyn Sisk was present to assist in locating the buried bucket of artifacts. The students processed…
