Election Of Officers Highlight April 11 R-III Board Of Education Meeting

Certification of the recent election results, election of officers and several new business items highlighted the April 11 meeting of the Holden R-III School Board of Education.

After approving the consent agenda and recognizing the State Science Olympiad team members with plaques for their qualification and participation at the state level, the Board went into executive session.

Upon returning, the open session reconvened at 8:40 p.m with the certification of the April 4 election results. Those were as follows:

Tonyea Inglis, 374 votes; Matt Ferguson 330 votes; Alex Haun 328 votes; Aaron Hynds 283 votes; and Write-Ins 17 votes.
Tonyea Inglis, Matt Ferguson, and Alex Haun were elected to three-year terms each. A motion by Georgia Jarman, and second by Gerilynn Hoover to approve the April 4, 2023 election results as presented by Johnson and Cass County clerks carried 7-0.

Following was a presentation to outgoing Boardmember Ray Briscoe, who received a plaque for his six years of service.
After that came the election of Board officers. Those were: President, Tonyea Inglis; Vice-President, Georgia Jarman; Treasurer, Nathan Haun. All were elected with no dissenting votes.

Next in line were reports. The reports included:

• Community Relations – Dr. Hough shared Bekki Currier’s community relations report;

• Winter Activities – Spencer Gudde highlighted the seasons of boy’s and girl’s basketball and wrestling;

• Superintendent’s – Dr. Mike Hough shared the following items:
MSBA April board report video highlighting the legislative advocacy day, MOEOP signup;
MSBA Summer Summit and Delegate Assembly and important information for newly elected board members;
