Council Hears Reports, Passes Resolutions, Bills

Department, and committee reports were heard and several resolutions and bills were passed by the Holden City Council at its March 16 meeting.

Department reports were as follow:
• Chief David Mayhew led off with the Police Department, stating the statistics for the month; the scheduling of an Emergency Management Table Top exercise; and that citizens need to ensure that their properties were properly numbered and could be seen from the street.

• Fire Department Chief Mike Wakeman provided a written report for council since he and Assistant Chief Martley were at fire training.

• Street Superintendent Morgan Pemberton, also in fire training, provided a written report for the Street Department. A discussion among the Council ensued about the surplused equipment and resulting auction. Councilman Larry Miller then touched on street maintenance and management of street repairs.

The Public Utilities Department submitted draft minutes from the recent board meeting.

City Administrator Cynthia Freeman reported the Administration Department was reviewing records and records retention, and would be bringing an inventory of records for destruction to the Council at a later date.

Mayor Briscoe then reminded everyone that with the new incoming council in April, there would be a new committee structure and assignments.

He then asked for committee reports.
