Four-Day Week, Staff Wellness & Improvement Program Taken Up By R-III Board

A four-day week and a Wellness & Improvement Program (SWIP) were the primary topics of the Holden R-III School Board when it met Monday, Jan. 9.

Before the discussions began, the Board first recognized athletes who earned selection to the Missouri All-State football and State Cheerleading teams.

Introduced by Holden Eagle Head Football Coach David Diener were: Americo Mabrey, C.J. Reifsteck, and Garrett Smith. Board members presented them with All -State trophies.

Jenica Viers, Cheerleading Coach, introduced the State Cheerleading team. The board members honored them with plaques.
Having no communications from the public, the Board discussed an issue that has seen movement in some districts across the nation – a four-day school, week.

As part of the Superintendent’s Report, Dr. Mike Hough, presented a calendar sample and shared both benefits and drawbacks for consideration.
