Fire Breaks Out Monday Night

A fire at Kansas City Beef Company (Formerly Gilbert Meat Locker) in Holden resulted in extensive damage Monday night.

Holden Fire Department Chief, Mike Wakeman, said the Department received the report of a structure fire at approximately 9:54 p.m. Monday night and immediately responded, sending two fire trucks.

Upon arrival, crews saw heavy black smoke and flames coming from the northeast corner of the building.

Shortly thereafter, Johnson County District #2 was requested and Warrensburg Fire Department for a ladder truck.

In turn, that district requested a tanker shuttle operation to support the truck.
