Events, Downtown Railing Discussed At Chamber
The upcoming Holidays Home Tour, railing for downtown Holden and an assortment of other activities were discussed when the Holden Area Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday, Nov. 29. It was noted tickets for the Holiday Homes Tour, are currently available.
The date for the event is Saturday, Dec. 10, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Contests and additional activities are planned as well.
Darcy Roach, owner of Homes By Darcy, is sponsoring what promises to be an entertaining afternoon.
Also discussed were the Celebration of Life Theater and railing for the downtown.
Tony Lerda told Chamber members the downtown theater will get a roof after the first of the year, but additional donations and funding are needed.
In a related subject, Lerda gave a report on a railing grant he is working on with T-Mobile.
The railing is a project undertaken to improve both safety and aesthetics for the downtown.
He said there is a $50,000 small community grant he is applying for.
He noted additional letters from those injured by tripping and falling from the current curbs are needed.
He added donations and commitments secured to cover the remaining balance after the grant, which would be approximately $41,000, also would be required.
Chamber President Jennifer Smithson offered to write a letter to businesses and also adding a post to social media asking for letters.
