Retired Image Editor To Be Inducted Into MPA Newspaper Hall Of Fame

On June 2, 2022, recently retired editor Dana Raker of The Holden Image and Lone Jack Paper Clips, was notified that after nearly 20 years of work on the newspaper, she will be inducted into the Missouri Press Association (MPA) Newspaper Hall of Fame.

The Awards Ceremony and Hall of Fame Banquet are scheduled for September 16, 2022 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri.

Dana was born and raised in Holden, her family roots in the town going back five generations.

Her heart has always belonged to the people of Holden and the surrounding towns she served.

She graduated from Holden High School in 1980, as did her parents in the ’50s.

After high school, she attended the University of Central Missouri, followed by some coursework at Longview Community College.

Dana has always loved to write.

For as long as she can remember, putting thoughts down on paper had a cathartic effect on her; a blank sheet of paper being to a writer what a blank canvas is to a painter; with endless possibilities abounding.

She also attributes her love of the art to her mother, who loves to write as well. Dana comments, “A well-written narrative can transport the reader on a journey to places they’ve never experienced before.

The written word has great power…” Dana knew that words must be handled with care….
