Serious Crash Occurs; One Fatality Reported
A fatal car wreck occurred on Friday, November 13, at the intersection of O and 58 Highways, several miles east of Holden.
A 2003 Chevrolet, driven by Megan Norris, 29, of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Holden, was heading northbound on O Highway and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of 58 Highway.
Her vehicle hit the 2016 Ford Edge, driven by Allen Parks, 69, of Holden, that was traveling eastbound on 58 Highway.
Norris was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Parks suffered serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence.
A passenger in Parks’ vehicle was his wife, Peggy Parks, 68, of Holden.
She was also seriously injured and transported to Centerpoint Hospital.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and were towed from the scene by Ron’s Tow Service.
The wreck is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the crash scene and aided in traffic control.
