Patriot Ride & Silent Auction Set For Oct. 10
Camp Valor Outdoors (CVO) is excited to announce its Sixth Annual Salute to All Veterans – Patriot Ride & Silent Auction.
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 10 and has been moved to the Warrensburg Elks Lodge, located at 822 E. Young Ave., in Warrensburg.
CVO founder and event organizer, Maj. John Schwent, said it was moved to Warrensburg due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and that they could better observe social distancing at the new location.
The ride starting points are at the Warrensburg American Legion and Independence American Legion. Rider registration is at 8 a.m.; kick-stands up at 8:30 a.m.; and the last bike is in at the Elks Lodge at 11:30 a.m. At 2 p.m., there will be a ceremony to honor Iraq and Afghanistan veterans with awards. A full day of fun is on tap, with activities for the whole family. A cornhole tournament will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For information or to enter, call Kaden at 816-277-8668.
An Appreciation BBQ Lunch is free for all veterans. The public may purchase lunch. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., also from 10 to 2, are a bake sale and raffles.
A free concert sure to entertain is slated from 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
The silent auction is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The live auction is at 1:30.
Veterans resources are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A BBQ Cook-off competition will be held. If interested in entering, call Bill at 660-351-0176.
Also, a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter will be on display and is provided by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 243, out of Lee’s Summit.
A mobile vet center will also be on hand throughout the day.
Guest speakers will be Medal of Honor recipient, Colonel Don “Doc” Ballard and Congresswoman Vicki Hartzler.
The mission of Camp Valor Outdoors is to recognize and honor our wounded veterans and their families with the opportunity to participate in competitive outdoor activities with dignity and respect while empowering them with the skills and motivation to overcome their injuries.
