“Meet The Candidates” Forum Held March 12 In Downtown Holden

Voters got an up close and personal opportunity to meet and hear candidates running for the Holden City Council and Mayor’s seat last Thursday evening when The Holden Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Meet The Candidates forum.

The gathering was held at Key Coffee in Downtown Holden.

All of those seeking office in the April 7 Municipal Election were present and fielded a variety of questions from moderator, Diane Thompson, Johnson County Clerk, and assisted by time keeper, Stormy Taylor, Johnson County Recorder. The pre-set questions included:

What will be your top 3 priorities in year one?

How will you set the tone for city staff and council?

How do you plan to represent our city at the county and state levels?

“Five years from now, what will have to be true for you to say you were successful in this role?”

Although no questions came from the audience in this particular format, both candidates and those in attendance were available for individual Q&As following the gathering.
