HHS Student Combines Passions To Help Educate Community About Upcoming Proposition

Art with a Message… The artwork was submitted by, Malea Brewington, a junior at Holden High School. Accompanying the art was a note describing her reason for the piece, as well as what she hopes to accomplish with it: “This piece is part of my FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Capstone, which combines my passions for art and politics. Through this project, I am able to merge my creative skills with my interest in shaping social change, demonstrating the impact of both art and politics in my community.”
Holden High School junior, Malea Brewington recently combined her passions for art and politics by incorporating both into her “Capstone Project” for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
The result was a piece of artwork to help educate the Holden community on the upcoming K.I.T.S. Proposition next month. That proposition would help to ensure teacher attraction and retention in the district without raising the current tax levy.
Malea, who serves as the Holden High School FBLA Chapter President and Missouri District 10 FBLA President said after visiting with school officials about the project, they encouraged her, believing it was an excellent opportunity to raise awareness in the community.
