Holden City Council Hears Reports, At Monthly Meeting

Reports took up much of the agenda when the Holden City Council gathered for its monthly meeting, Thursday Feb. 20.
Councilman James McDaniel, as the Mayor Pro-Tem, presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Ray Briscoe and called the meeting to order.
After the consent agenda was approved without discussion, the council heard a presentation from Salena Garten, of the Phoenix Network and Glenda Carmack from the Johnson County Prevention Coalition.
The pair gave an update on their efforts to not only provide support to families with a loved one who struggles with addiction, but their plans and efforts to educate and inform the public regarding behaviors so that addiction never gets a foothold in a young person’s life.
