Routine Business, Presentation By Guests Mark H.O.P.E. Meeting

Normal business items and two presentations from guests marked the December meeting of the H.O.P.E. Board of Directors.
At the outset of the gathering, board members heard two presentations from local/area residents concerning the problem of drug use/addiction.

Selena Garten, representing the foundation, Phoenix Network, informed the board about available resources and support to families of drug addicts. She noted referrals could be made to the organization if anyone encounters individuals who could benefit from its services.

Also making a presentation about similar problems within the community was Ashlynn Englemann. In addition to sharing her personal experiences, she informed board members about the depth of the difficulties in the area and gave resources to assist with dealing with them.

Moving on to agenda items, H.O.P.E. Executive Director, Brittany Smith gave her monthly report.

In the Harvester’s review for the previous month, 171 households were shown receiving food. Of those, 259 were adults (18-64), 206 were children (17 and under), 100 were seniors (65 and up), for a total of 565 served. The month of November was the highest of the 2024 calendar year. Twenty volunteers helped to distribute the goods, which totalled 10,512 pounds.
