Amid the cheers “Welcome home!” the Holden community welcomed back 5-year-old Frieda Gringerich, an Amish girl seriously injured in a horse and buggy/car crash in August.
The event saw the streets of Downtown Holden lined with signs and well wishers cheering as a parade of vehicles, one including the little girl, pass by.
Frieda, her parents, Truman and Ada Gringerich and her two sisters were also injured in the accident, with her’s being the most serious.
It occurred when a 71-year-old man struck the horse and buggy from behind near Holden.
The driver was later charged with careless and imprudent driving.
